THE ARTIST

BUILT ON CRAFT,

DRIVEN BY PASSION.

As a hair artist and educator, working between Rotterdam and Amsterdam, my work brings together salon hair, education, creative collections and the stage.

My mom used to say I would become a hairdresser at a young age. Later I found my hobby in dancing, acting and eventually studied social work, where I didn't really feel like home. At some point my stepmom told me to look for another school, study and look into art or fashion/ beauty. So I landed on a school for hairdressing and remembered what my mom always said. She passed a few years before and even without her presence, I wanted to follow her advice, or gut feeling. And that's where I found my place.

Fast forward; my career is built on more than twelve years at Toni&Guy, where I've developed a strong foundation in precision cutting, colour and strong education. Starting as a colorist, I went on to become a London-trained stylist, salon trainer, assistant manager, Academy educator and eventually Head of Education for Toni&Guy in the Netherlands.

Colour is an important part of my creative work. Further education with Schwarzkopf Professional and becoming a Master Colorist strengthened my specialism. In 2026, this was recognised when I was named Hair Color Technician of the Year at the Coiffure Awards.

BUT TECHNIQUE WAS NEVER
THE DESTINATION.

F
or me, strong technique creates the freedom to bend the rules. My work moves between precision and creativity, from wearable salon hair to creative colour, collections and editorial work.

The same approach runs through my education and stage work. Over the years, I've taught hairdressers at different levels, developed and presented education, created collections and presented creative work on stage. My role in shows often goes beyond hair, bringing together concept, models, styling, presentation, catwalk and the complete visual direction. Looking back, everything somehow came full circle. My background in dance now comes through in how I direct and choreograph models, theatre in how I present and educate, and social work in the way I connect with people. Somehow, it all found its place in hair.

12.5 YEARS.
A NEW CHAPTER.

Now working independently between Rotterdam and Amsterdam, Bjorn is bringing the different sides of his career together: salon, education and creating.

At the heart of this next chapter is the ambition to develop education on his own terms. Built on strong technique, creative freedom and a simple belief: learn the rules, understand them, gain the confidence to make them your own.

THEN BREAK THEM.
